Litany of the sacred Passion of Christ
In the name of the father, the son, the holy spirit.
Our Father, who at in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Jesus, betrayed and sold, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, crucified and persecuted on my behave, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, tempted but over came, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, accused and condemned yet without sin, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, clothed with my garment of shame, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, flogged and mocked, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, scourged unto blood, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, to Whom Barabbas was preferred, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, stripped of His garments for my shame, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, crowned with thorns for my sins, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, spat on by the ones He came to save, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, overwhelmed with insults, sorrow, and humiliations, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, condemned to die for me, Have mercy on me.
Jesus, crucified with robbers, Have mercy on me.
CLOSING PRAYER
Lord Jesus Christ,
you were fastened with nails
to the wood of the cross
and raised on high for all to see.
As the sun grew dark and the earth quaked,
you surrendered your spirit to your Father,
descended among the dead,
broke open the gates of hell,
and freed those bound in darkness.
As angel choirs rejoiced,
you were raised to life again on the third day,
destroying death by your own death
and cancelling the power of sin.
By these mighty deeds on our behalf,
rescue us from our blindness ,
inspire us anew by your Holy Spirit,
and lead us into a life of prayer and service
worthy of your awesome sacrifice,
O Saviour of the world,
living and reigning with the Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
AMEN.
