WE ARE TOGETHER IN THIS, TRUST IN ME

WE ARE TOGETHER IN THIS, TRUST IN ME

COME TO ME, I WILL GIVE YOU REST

“Come to me, all of you who work hard and carry heavy burdens, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart, and you will find rest. For my yoke is easy and my burden light” (MT. 11:28-30).

A yoke a is a wooden harness by which the necks of two cows are joined so they can pull a load together with ease. Every yoke is constructed by carpenters according to the size of the cow. The carpenters tailor the yoke to fit each animal to avoid pains on the necks of the cows.

Like the children of Israel in Slavery, we are all carrying one heavy load or another. As Moses was sent by ‘ I AM WHO I AM’ to free His people from the burdens of slavery and punishment, so is Jesus telling us to come to Him today with all our burdens.

We are very familiar with this portion of the scriptures and sometimes we misterpret it. ‘Come to me’ means, I will not relieve you of your load, but by placing my yoke on you I give you the means of carrying the load. My yoke is “easy” can be translated “well fitting”, which means my “yoke is well fitting.” In other words, Jesus is saying in this text, trust me, and yoke yourself to me. Together we can pull any load.

What load are you carrying? That which you carry may be an incurable sickness; load of unemployment, poverty, barrenness, spiritual dryness, infertility, and so on. That load or burden needs the yoke of Jesus to pull it. When we use our yoke, the load becomes burdensome and weighs us down. But when we yoke ourselves to Jesus, the load becomes easy and the burden becomes light.

🙏When my load is burdensome and too heavy for me, Lord, help me to yoke myself to you and together let us pull through. Amen.

GOOD DAY.

DO HAVE A GOOD THURSDAY. SMIKE, JESUS LOVES YOU.
