THE BLOOD IS AN EXCHANGE FOR YOUR LIFE. YOU’RE ALIVE

THE BLOOD IS AN EXCHANGE FOR YOUR LIFE. YOU’RE ALIVE

WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD, I WILL PASS OVER

“This is a day you are to remember and celebrate in honour of the Lord. It is to be kept as a festival day for all generations, as an everlasting ordinance” ( Ex.12:14).

The above command from the Lord to keep the passover feast from generation to generation continues in a new fashion for us Christians through the Holy Mass. Jesus tells us, ” do this in memory of me.”

While the first one was a shadow, the second one is a reality.
Just as the first Israelites ate the flesh of the first passover lamb, so we are nourished by the flesh of Christ in the Eucharist.

The flesh and blood of the passover lamb saved the people of Israel from physical death and slavery. But the flesh and blood of the new passover lamb, Christ, saves not just the Israelites but all of us from spiritual slavery and eternal death. (cf. John 6).

The blood of the passover lamb was smeared on the doors of the Israelites. The blood of the new passover lamb is smeared on our lips, which are the doors of our bodies.

If the blood of the old lamb could be so efficacious to deliver the people from death and slavery, how much more will the blood of the lamb, Jesus, deliver us from spiritual slavery (sin)and eternal death.

Just as the Israelites were told to celebrate the feast from generation to generation, so we celebrate the Holy Eucharist, the sacrifice of the Body and Blood of Jesus. As St. Paul says, ” Our Passover festival is ready, now that Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Let us celebrate.” 1 Cor. 5:7-8.

How deeply do we appreciate the Holy Mass? How prepared, active and conscious are we before this great mystery? How ready are we to tap into the graces that come from this great feast and festival?

🙏May we always find value in what we celebrate and make ourselves ready to pass over from death to life. And may the Body and Blood of Jesus keep us safe for eternal life. Amen.

GOOD MORNING. DO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND. SMILE, JESUS LOVES YOU.
