6 Amazing Facts About Our Lady of Fatima

My Immaculate Heart will triumph’. What does this mean? The heart open to God, sanctified by the contemplation of God, is stronger than guns and weapons of every kind. The fiat of Mary, the word of her heart, has transformed the history of the world, because it brought the Saviour into the world —because, thanks to her ‘Yes’, God could become man in our world and remains so for all time. The Evil One has power in this world, as we see and experience always; he has power because our freedom continually lets itself be led away from God. But since God himself took a human heart and has thus steered man’s freedom towards what is good, the freedom to decide evil no longer has the last word. From that moment, this is the last word: In the world, you will have issues, but take courage, I have overcome the world (John 16:33) is well founded. The message of Fatima invites us to believe in this promise.”

3. For someone so young, Francisco became quite a contemplative. He had two main goals.

Lucia explained how he preferred to pray by himself so he could “think and console Our Lord,” he said. She asked him what he liked best — to console Our Lord or to convert sinners to prevent more souls from going to hell. Francisco did not have to hesitate to answer that question.

“I prefer to console Our Lord,” he said. “Can’t you recall last month how Our Lady became so sad when she asked us not to offend Our Lord who was already so offended? I want to console Our Lord, and then to convert sinners so that they won’t offend Him anymore.”

4. Dr. Branca Paul, Sister Lucia’s personal physician for the last 15 years of the nun’s life, saw her patient daily.

Lucia often talked to Dr. Paul about her days as a young child, usually spent with her cousins and fellow visionaries Jacinta, 7 years old in 1917, and Francisco, 9, at the time. One time, when speaking with Dr. Paul about the apparitions, Lucia began laughing.

“In speaking about Our Lady’s warnings about the ‘errors of Russia,’ ” Dr. Paul said, “Lucia would tell me that she and Jacinta thought ‘Russia’ was an evil woman.” Another proof right away that the apparitions were genuine.

5. Quite an incident started on September 8, 1917, that started out in fear and soon turned to something else.

It commenced when a young man visited Lucia’s home to speak with her. Lucia explained her first reaction: “He was of such tall stature that I trembled with fear. When I saw that he had to bend down in order to come through the doorway in search of me, I thought I must be in the presence of a German. At that time we were at war, and grown-ups would try to frighten children by saying: ‘Here comes a German to kill you.’”

“I thought, therefore, that my last hour had come. My fright did not pass unnoticed by the young man, who sought to calm me; he made me sit on his knee and questioned me with great kindness.”

He then asked Lucia’s mother if the child could show him the apparition site and pray there with him. She accepted. All along the way Lucia was fearful but, she said, “Then I started to feel troubled again at the thought that if he killed me, I would go to see Our Lord and Our Lady.”

At the site he knelt down and asked Lucia to pray the Rosary with him to receive a special grace from Our Lady for his great desire that a young lady he knew would consent to become his wife in the sacrament of matrimony.

Lucia recalled she thought, “‘If she has as much fear of him as I, she will never say Yes!’”

After the Rosary, walking Lucia home and after saying goodbye, the young man asked her to pray for his request.

A month later, precisely on October 13 at the site of the last apparition, Lucia got two great surprises.

She explained the first: “…I suddenly found myself, after the apparitions, in the arms of this same person, sailing along over the heads of the people. It actually served to satisfy the curiosity of everybody who wanted to see me!”

Maneuvering through the crowd he stumbled and fell. But Lucia was caught in the crush of people pressing around her. “Right away, others took hold of me, and this gentleman disappeared,” she said.

Then came the second surprise when “he appeared again, this time followed by the aforesaid girl, who was now his wife! He came to thank the Blessed Virgin for the grace received, and to ask her copious blessings on their future. This young man is today Dr. Carlos Mendes of Torres Novas.”

6. Very ill, about to go to the hospital, St. Jacinta told Lucia she would be going to heaven in a short while. Jacinta charged her, “You will remain here to make known that God wishes to establish in the world devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. When you are to say this, don’t go and hide. Tell everybody that God grants us graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary; that people are to ask her for them; and that the Heart of Jesus wants the Immaculate Heart of Mary to be venerated at His side. Tell them also to pray to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for peace since God has entrusted it to her. If I could only put into the hearts of all, the fire that is burning within my own heart, and that makes me love the Hearts of Jesus and Mary so very much!”

The Sun Dances To The Music of The Blessed Virgin Mary

The Sun Dances To The Music of The Blessed Virgin Mary

Amazingly there has been several times in the history of apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary where there are recorded miracles of the dancing sun.

The first recorded miracle of the dancing sun in the Church was during the last of the Fatima apparitions precisely on 13th of October 1917. On this day the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in the company of Saint Joseph and the infant Jesus.

There was another recorded miracle of the dancing sun in October of 1997 in Lagos, Nigeria during the Arch Dioscesan Marian convention.

In the words of Very Rev. Msgr. Prof Festus C. Okafor, “the Blessed Virgin Mary worked three miracles, one in heaven and two on earth. First was the miracle of the dancing sun, it is the most amazing miracle of the sun ever recorded in the history of the church” says Msgr Okafor.

Second was the instant and miraculeous healing of a lady with fibroid.

Lastly, Msgr. Okafor’s sutane and the flowers around the altar turns into gold color.

Msgr. Okafor said that the outstanding miracles were to authenticate the veracity of the Umunya, Nigeria apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary which he was speaking about to the congregation at the time the miracle of the dancing sun began.

I reflected on the miracle of the dancing sun, on how the sun swayed from left to right and from up to down, in different directions, it is amazing how the presence of the Blessed Virgin Mary can bring about such movements of the sun.

It’s like saying ‘the sun is dancing to the music of the Blessed Virgin Mary.’

I searched the internet for the size of the sun and what I read amazed me even more. The Sun’s diameter is 864,938 miles (1,391,980 km). This is almost 10 times larger than the planet Jupiter and about 109 times as big as the Earth. The volume of the Sun is 1,299,400 times bigger than the volume of the Earth; about 1,300,000 Earths could fit inside the Sun

The Sun’s apparent size in our sky is 32 arc minutes (it is the biggest object in the sky – 1 arc minute larger than the moon).

If the Blessed Virgin Mary (Lk 1:42) would sing while the sun dances from left to right, or the Blessed Virgin Mary would play the harp and the sun would dance up and down, if the Blessed Virgin Mary could manipulate the sun like a play thing, like a toy in the hands of a little child, what could she not do?

The Church calls Her the Virgin Most Powerful, indeed a powerful Queen Mary is. A great intercessor,  a Mediatrix for Her children with the Mediator who is Her first born Son.

In the words of the saints

“The greatest saints, those richest in grace and virtue will be the most assiduous in praying to the most Blessed Virgin, looking up to her as the perfect model to imitate and as a powerful helper to assist them.”
~Saint Louis Marie de Montfort

“To give worthy praise to the Lord’s mercy, we unite ourselves with Your Immaculate Mother, for then our hymn will be more pleasing to You, because She is chosen from among men and angels. Through Her, as through a pure crystal, Your mercy was passed on to us. Through Her, man became pleasing to God; Through Her, streams of grace flowed down upon us.” (1746)
~St. Faustina

“In dangers, in doubts, in difficulties, think of Mary, call upon Mary. Let not her name depart from your lips, never suffer it to leave your heart. And that you may obtain the assistance of her prayer, neglect not to walk in her footsteps. With her for guide, you shall never go astray; while invoking her, you shall never lose heart; so long as she is in your mind, you are safe from deception; while she holds your hand, you cannot fall; under her protection you have nothing to fear; if she walks before you, you shall not grow weary; if she shows you favor, you shall reach the goal.”
~Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, Father and Doctor of the Church

All You Need To Know About The 6 Fatima Apparitions

On May 13, Catholics around the world celebrate Our Lady of Fatima. On this day in 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal. It was the first of six total apparitions Blessed Mary would make to the children from May to October 1917. Throughout her apparitions, Mary makes predictions and warns that unless everyone prays, repents, and abandons sin, the world will suffer war, turmoil, and persecution of the Church. Let’s take a closer look at the six apparitions.

First Apparition:6

The 6 Apparitions of FatimaOn May 13, 1917, Blessed Mary appears for the first time to the children as they were tending the sheep in Fatima, Portugal. The children — Lucia dos Santos, age ten, Francisco Marto, age nine, and Jacinta Marto, age seven were cousins. Blessed Mary urged the children to “Pray the Rosary every day, in order to obtain peace for the world, and the end of the war (World War I).” She instructed the children to come to the same place at the same time every 13th day of the month for the next five months.

Second Apparition:

Second Apparition of FatimaAs promised, on June 13, 1917, Blessed Mary appeared again instructing the children to continue to Fatima Say the Rosary every day and for Lucia to learn to read and write. Lucia was told she would live longer than the other two children and that she should spread the message of Mary throughout mankind. She told Lucia that God wants to “establish devotion to my Immaculate Heart in the world.” Whoever embraces it is promised salvation.

Third Apparition:

Third Apparition of FatimaOn July 13, 1917 in addition to urging the children to continue to say the Rosary for peace in the world, Blessed Mary told the children to pray for the conversion of sinners and all the sins committed against her Immaculate Heart. In this apparition, Mary revealed three secrets or prophetic visions.

The first secret was a glimpse of what hell looks like and told them that to save future souls God wants the world to become devoted to her Immaculate Heart. “If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace.”

The second secret was the prediction that World War I would end, but Mary warned if people didn’t stop offending God, a worse one will break out during the pontificate of Pius Xl. To prevent this, she asked for the dedication of Russia to her Immaculate Heart to prevent the damage that Russia would do to humanity by embracing communism.

The third secret was not revealed until 2000. The children saw a vision of a bishop dressed in white (who they thought to be the pope) walking towards a mountain with other priests and religious figures. During their journey they go through a town that is in ruins and the pope prays for the souls of the corpses he passes along the way. As they reach the top of a mountain, the pope kneels before a cross and he and the others are killed by soldiers.

There’s been much debate on what the third secret means. Pope John Paul II believed this vision referred to his own assassination attempt.

Fourth Apparition:

Fourth Apparition of FatimaIn August, the children were prevented by the disapproving civil authorities to go to their usual meeting place and missed Mary’s apparition on the 13th day. However, on August 19, Blessed Mary appeared to the children and urged them to continue to say the Rosary and to “Pray for the many souls that go the hell because there is none who pray for them.”

Fifth Apparition:

By the fifth apparition on September 13, the children were joined by thousands of onlookers. People went to see Mary but only the children saw the apparitions of Mary and described them to the people. The Blessed Lady appeared to the children with the message: “Continue to pray the Rosary in order to obtain the end of the war. In October Our Lord will come, as well as our Lady of Sorrows and Our Lady of Carmel, Saint Joseph will appear with the Child Jesus to bless the world. In October I will perform a miracle so that all may believe.”

Sixth Apparition:

sixth apparition fatimaOn October 13, 1917 the children surrounded by a crowd of 70,000 people stood under a torrential rain as Blessed Mary appeared and revealed her identity: “I am the Lady of the Rosary, I desire here a chapel in my honor to be built, that people continue to recite the Rosary every day. The war is going to end, and the soldiers will soon return to their homes. Do not offend the Lord our God anymore, because He is already so much offended.” Then the miracle she promised happened: the Miracle of the Sun.

Many described the miracle similarly: Mary opened her hands and launched a ray of light in the direction of the sun; the rain stopped suddenly and there appeared an exceptionally bright sun. The sun began to turn, projecting colorful bands of light. Then the sun appeared as if it was spinning out from the sky and towards the crowd, as people fell to their knees and begged for mercy. Meanwhile, as promised, the three children saw the Blessed Lady dressed in white with a blue cape, along with St. Joseph with the Child Jesus blessing the world. Then after this vision they saw The Lord bless the world, standing next to Our Lady of Sorrows. After this vision vanished, they saw Our Lady once more, this time resembling Our Lady of Carmel.
